Russ grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and moved to Akron, Ohio when he accepted admission to the University of Akron School of Law.　Russ moved to Medina, Ohio after completion of law school.

Russ enjoys all aspects of the law but his concentration is in Domestic Relations, Family Law, and Bankruptcy. His hobbies are golf, hunting and fishing, reading biographies and volunteer work.
